FOREST VIEW VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMITTEE
Dear Neighbor,
Our Village was founded in 1924 exclusively by veterans of World War I. More than a century has passed, and it is long overdue to erect a memorial to honor all those Forest View residents who have served in the U.S. military throughout the years.
The Village Board has designated the vacant lot at 4601 Wenonah (across from the Fire Station) to be the location for the new Forest View Veterans Memorial Park.
A working committee has been authorized to bring the project to fruition:
- Mike Grossi - Committee Chair
- Laura McGuffey - Committee Chair
- Tim Kutt - Project Manager
- John Marbes - Resident Veteran Advisor
- Gary Phanka - Resident Veteran Advisor
The Memorial project is being funded entirely by grants and donations.
No additional taxpayer dollars will be involved.
We ask for your financial support in this worthy endeavor.
Our fundraising goal is $75,000 to complete Phase 1 for dedication this Veterans Day, November 11, 2026.
A dedicated account has been set up to receive checks or cash donations at the Forest View Village Hall located at 7000 46th Street, Forest View, IL 60402-4300.
