The public works department is responsible for the maintenance of streets, trees, water, sidewalks, sewers and storm drains, buildings and structures, parks, and street lights.

Corrosion Control Transition Notice for Sawyer Water Purification Plant (SWPP) **

Dear Valued Water Partners:

On Monday, December 16th, the Chicago Department of Water Management (CDWM) will begin the phased transition of our corrosion control at the Sawyer Water Purification Plant (SWPP).  At this time, our current 60 Polyphosphate/40 Orthophosphate blend will be replaced by a 30 Polyphosphate/70 Orthophosphate blend.  CDWM does not expect to see any major changes in the water quality other than an increase in Orthophosphate from the current target of 0.5 mg/L to 0.85 mg/L.
